Great landing pages are essential for any company that’s serious about its online marketing campaign. Your landing page really can make or break your business. Here are some ideas to help you get it right and create a great landing page.
1. Website navigation
Your landing page should showcase your product or service and highlight any offers or deals you are currently promoting. The aim is to grab the visitor’s attention and draw them in, not confuse them with non-relevant content. Remove any navigational links from your landing page. This ensures that your prospects will remain totally focused on the offer and won’t be tempted to jump to something else straight away.
Once your prospect has arrived on your landing page, been suitably impressed by your offer and decided to sign up, they must be able to do so easily.
We read from left to right; therefore it makes sense to place your content to the left where it will be studied first, and the order form or contact information request link to the right of the page where the reader’s eye will naturally go for further information.
Web surfers are disinclined to spend ages trawling through reams of irrelevant information to get to what they want. You have just a few seconds to grab a visitor’s attention before they move on to someone else’s site.
Make sure that your headline clearly sets out what your company does and what you are offering. The important thing to remember here is that you must still include all the relevant keywords in the headline so that your landing page still makes it to the top of those all-important search engine results.
4. Product or service description
It’s important to be clear and concise in your product or service description. Keep clear of jargon and industry-speak and don’t ramble on and on ad infinitum. Make your copy brief, bright and interesting so that your visitors are inspired to find out more about what you are offering or better still, place an order there and then.
Whilst it is important to include an engaging graphic in the form of a photo or image, don’t get carried away. Keep the pictures you choose relevant and appealing and stick to using one or two. Too many graphics will distract from the message you are trying to get across and will also slow down the page loading time which may put some users off.
6. Social media
The inclusion of social media buttons is very important. This will encourage and enable visitors to your landing page to share their discovery with friends on social networking sites which will drive more traffic to your website. Who knows; your product may even go viral!
Make sure you position the buttons so that they are clearly visible to users but do not interfere with the message you are trying to get across.
A well-designed, attractive and impactful landing page is the key to generating positive leads which will in turn drive your online business forward.
